Irise Institute East Africa

A Global Sisterhood

Rooted in the realities of our own local contexts of Uganda and the UK, together we are a powerful voice calling for global menstrual justice.

Irise International drives global menstrual justice in sisterhood with Irise Institute East Africa (IIEA), an independently registered organisation based in Uganda. Irise began in East Africa and we continue to mobilise resource for IIEA’s work, as well as advocate together.

Period Friendly Schools is an evidenced-based,  whole community approach to ending period inequity in rural communities in Jinja District, Uganda. Through working with teachers, families and community leaders, this programme drives menstrual justice for all, keeping girls in school and building brighter futures.

The Period Equality Network is a grassroots movement of more than 160 organisations across East Africa. The network is hosted by IIEA and provides a space where grassroots organisations and those working with them can share resources & learning, access small grants and training, and be part of an active community to support their work and advocacy driving menstrual justice across the region.
